!SLEEP ZZZZ
Going from caffeine to counting sheep we will dive into the importance of sleep. Are you a stomach sleeper, side sleeper, back sleeper or maybe you end up at the other side of the bed next morning. Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. The way you feel when you are awake depends in part what happens while you're sleeping. It can affect how well you think, react, work, learn and get along with others. Practicing healthy habits throughout the day play a role in how well you sleep. Going to bed and waking up at the same time each day to give yourself a routine even on days off. Watching when you're drinking that last cup of coffee and caffeine consumption. Creating a good sleep environment with comfortable pillows and a mattress, cool temperature during sleep and eliminating any distractions. Take time before bed to relax maybe read a book, turn down lights and take a warm bath to regulate body temperature. Your body has a biological need for sleep that increases when you have been awake for a long time. This is controlled by homeostasis, the process which your body keeps systems, such as your internal body temperature, steady. Many factors play a role in preparing your body to wake up and fall asleep. Your body has several internal clocks called circadian clocks. Your bodies internal clocks are in sync with certain cues in the environment. Light, darkness and other cues help determine when to feel awake and when to feel drowsy. We are always striving to be the best versions of ourselves. Start with maintaining a sleep schedule to get everyday started right!
